"All That I Remember" by The Amity Affliction

So a little context, I've been listening to the band The Amity Affliction since 2013, I've seen him live, I've heard every song. I'm a super fan. With the recent controversy behind them and Ahren no longer being part of the band, I was worried about their music. And now that their new song is out, I can only say that it's not bad, it kind of sounds like every metal core group that's out there right now though. Like I feel like bad omens if it was a little heavier or like wage war. This new guy has a deeper voice than Ahren as well. Maybe it just has to be like Linkin Park where at first I hated the idea of Emily being in the band I hated Emily and after listening to them for a while I think they actually have some decent songs for this last album, so maybe I just have to get used to it and put away my personal bias about it. But either way it's still not a bad song. I can't wait to hear Ahren's new stuff though because he is working on an album right now in New Mexico with someone else.

All That I Remember

Into Hell by I Prevail

I've listened to I Prevail for a long time. I think the first time I heard them was My Heart I Surrender from their 2014 album and really during the Punk Goes Pop era when they did Blank Space by Taylor Swift. That's when I heard songs like Scars, Stuck In Your Head, and Alone from their 2016 album Lifelines.

I was worried when the last song came out after Brian Burkheiser departed from the band. I thought that with how Violent Nature sounded that it was just going to be straight heavy, nothing clean. No don't get me wrong, I actually really liked Violent Nature. It was heavy, catchy, and got stuck in your head, but it didn't feel like I Prevail. It is nice to say though that I was wrong and I am pleasantly surprised. I didn't know Eric Vanlerberghe could do clean vocals like that.

The new song Into Hell is beautiful and it really shows why it's good to see what a band can do when it decides to change. It still doesn't sound exactly the same but That's expected and it's still good. I think after hearing the clean vocals on this and the video of him doing clean vocal live, I'm willing to say this new album has potential to be really good and we'll just have to wait and see.

Maybe that'll be the case with The Amity Affliction as well, still got mixed feelings about everything there, but I'm starting to see Joel was also trying to do what he could to keep the band alive and maybe the community, maybe I was a little too harsh on him at first.
